Did she or didn't she?
When I was a kid, there was this tv commercial for hair coloring that went, “Does she or doesn’t she? Only her hairdresser knows for sure!” Well, that’s the question I have for the CAP Jackson.
Last time we checked in, the CAP Jackson was, how to put it? Oh . . . dead in the water. Or should I say officially, “Vessel not under command.” Not wanting to freak out or rattle cages too much, I simply fired off an e-mail to our shippers asking if they had everything they needed, confirming the port arrival date of September 16, and inquiring whether the broker has made any headway on movers.
The response was: they do have everything they need (though one gov’t document didn’t quite have all the information it was supposed to . . . but the AT folks said it should be fine); that we would have to get the originals to them; the port arrival date was now September 17th; and that the broker had a list of movers and was negotiating for the best price.
The next day, Ann pulled this up on Marine Traffic - underway at 12 knots, towards Tangiers.
She wasn’t actually headed to Tangiers, but instead a bit farther east on the north coast of Morocco to a port at Eddalya. Ann found a photo of the port.
And this is where she’s at this morning.
Really zoomed-in you can see that it’s definitely a container transfer port.
So, the CAP Jackson was officially listed as not under command for roughly a day and her arrival to Leixões gets bumped back a day. Did her engines break down or didn’t they? Only her captain knows for sure!
