Sunrise Bryce Canyon - Homage to Giacometti

The other morning I decided to dig through my photographs from Bryce Canyon to see if I had any images that might compare to the one Ann printed in black and white.  Nope.  I did however find an image that I’d forgotten I wanted to work on.  Fortunately I finally have the skills to do it right.

If you know the work of my favorite artist, Alberto Giacometti, I need say no more.  If you don’t, I suggest you study his work and then come back to this post.

I did not expect to find a Giacometti at Bryce Canyon.

Strangely enough, a few days after I wrote this post I received an e-mail newsletter from Magnum Photos linking to a post on their website - "Giacometti in His Studio".  It's a collection of photographs of Alberto Giacometti in his small studio in Paris taken by several great Magnum photographers, to include Henri-Cartier Bresson.  And for anyone heading up to New York and want to check out Frank Lloyd Wright's Guggenhiem Museum, between June 8 and September 12, 2018 there's an incredible Giacometti Exhibit with over 200 pieces, several of which have never been exhibited before.  I'm tempted to fly out just to see it!  Then, of course, for you folks in the DC area, the East Wing of the National Gallery of Art and the Hirshorn Museum both have Giacomettis that are usually on display.  Is this convergence of Giacometti material trying to say something to me?
