Shooting the Shooter Part 8 - Brice Creek Yet Again

Last Friday Ann and I took a trip to Brice Creek and some feeder creeks to check out waterfalls.  We woke up what we thought was pretty early - 4:00 am, the same time Ann usually gets up for work.  Our goal was to get there in time to see what the creek looks like at dawn.  Fat chance.  First, we left a bit later than we thought because we cooked breakfast (do it the night before!).  Second, we’re well into Spring, so the sun is rising earlier and earlier, and we had a good 1 hour plus drive to get there.  Thus, the sun was rising and just starting to peek over the ridge line when we got there.

We quickly headed to the up-river stretch of our favorite shooting location on Brice, though we paused long enough for Ann to get a lovely photograph of a small stream that leads into Brice (never pass up a good photograph thinking you’re on your way to a better photograph - there’s never any guarantees at your destination!).

As we stepped off the trail I took a quick look up river, didn’t see anything, and then headed down stream.  Ann stayed where I didn’t see anything  After I made my first photograph (one I saw from the trail), I pulled out the handy iPhone and took one of Ann.  You can see her way upstream if you look carefully.

Brice Creek is flowing pretty high this time of year - not nearly as high as it was a few weeks ago (our last swing by, which didn’t lead to any photos from this spot), but a lot higher than our trip in early Fall.  In the fall, this section was full of rocks, some of which you can see under the water flow below.

Where I saw a flood of white, Ann saw a chorus of flowing water, textures weaving around, between and over rock.

I guess I should have looked a bit harder before dismissing this view.
