Slipway
There’s an area near the hotel called the Slipway. The Slipway has two shopping areas, one’s a fairly nice place with restaurants and fancy shops. The other area is on the other side of a boat repair yard. I decided to take a few shots of where I’ve tended to spend more time.
The shops here are really small and, for the most part, there is little variety from place to place. However, there are some items and stalls that are distinctly different, you just have to wade from stall to stall to find them.
Tanzania has a strong artist community and several distinct styles are popular. As I made my way through the shops, I came across a painter in the back:
If you go across the parking lot, you find another set of shops.
For some reason, the women here are much more aggressive at trying to pull in customers than the shops not 50 feet away.
Not much more than that to it - you’ve just got to spend the time looking around to find something that interests you, and there’s bound to be something that catches your eye!
