Bugs

You know, you hear the word Africa and, if you’re like me, one of the things that runs through your mind is the thought of bugs.  Bugs everywhere, in the billions!  Well, it’s just not that way.  There really doesn’t seem to be more mosquitos, or ants, or any other kind of bug here than anywhere else I’ve lived.  I hear they can get to be a problem (as well as carry diseases we don’t quite have at home), but they haven’t been a problem for me yet.

Plus, some bugs can be interesting.  And I came across a couple on my last morning in Voinjama.  I was out a bit early waiting for the ride to the town hall and, like the other mornings there, I started chatting with Tom, the water guy doing a short term contract assessing the water situation in Voinjama and other areas.  As I was talking with Tom, my eyes started noticing some pretty interesting bugs.  Finally I had to excuse myself, pull out my camera and take a couple of shots.  Mind you, these were both by the door frame just behind where Tom was sitting, minding their own business:

Pretty cool!
