You Know You're in the Middle East When . . .
. . . on your way from the airport to your hotel you see a couple of guys riding camels alongside the highway.
My trip from DC was long and my layover in Amman was barely long enough to get a few hours of sleep and see a beautiful sunrise, but I've arrived in Baghdad. I can confirm, yes, it is hot But it's a dry heat. The taxi driver in Amman said that Baghdad is 20 degrees C hotter than in Amman. He's right.
I found out last night that I'll be staying in the Baghdad area, which means I'll have better access to facilities. They're going to keep me busy - I start tomorrow and with what they've arranged for the week, I'll need to hit the ground running. That's what I asked for and they've delivered!
