Our Printers
As you well know, Ann and I have dipped our toes into printing our own images. It comes with its own steep learning curve, and it’s really not fun when things don’t work out right. But when they do, oh are the prints beautiful!
We currently have an Epson SC-P900 printer. Sitting in its normal state, it doesn’t look like much.
But it can print up to a 17” x 22” print once it’s all opened up. And it prints using 9 different colors/tones of ink (there are two “blacks” depending on the paper type, so only one gets used at any one time . . . so make that 10 different ink cartridges).
If you’ve read any of our posts about printing, you know we’re very pleased with the results that come from this printer.
Our first printer, the Canon Pro-1000, did a great job as well, so we thought we should mention it.
Neither printer is perfect (the Epson has periodic paper control issues, the Canon had periodic color issues), but from what we can gather, that’s the nature of the beast. Printing successfully (like in the darkroom) requires a lot of skill and any number of things can go wrong in the process. And in our case, it’s usually human error.
But when it all comes together, oh my, the results are wonderful!
