  • England

After several tries, we finally landed a photography workshop in England that Covid didn’t cancel. Of course we made a trip of it (to include a loop up into Scotland). These are images from England.

  • Germany

We’ve only made a couple of real excursions into Germany and only one real photography trip. Funny thing is, whenever we go there for shopping and other errands, I have no problems speaking German and having them understand me. We really need to explore the country more, it has much to offer. As these photographs show, both in the cities and in the countryside.

  • Ireland

What happens when some old friends ask you to join them for a short hop over to Ireland? One feckin’ hell of a good time I tell ya! In between the pints of Guinness and glasses of Irish whiskey, I even managed to make a few photographs while we were there. We should have stayed longer.

  • Netherlands

The Netherlands was our second “home” in Europe. Thank goodness for the DAFT. Daily life in the Netherlands was more as we like it, but the photography is just as difficult as Portugal. Beautiful, but in the case of the Netherlands, flat. Very flat. Still, we’ve gotten out and it’s a wonderful base for our travels!

  • Portugal

Portugal was home for a couple of years. I wish we had the opportunity to know it better; that can be blamed on COVID, and then our frustration with bureaucratic hurdles. What really can’t be blamed on COVID is how few photographic images I have of it. Portugal is incredible in its beauty, but that beauty defies the easy photograph. More than most locations I’ve encountered, it requires you to work for the image. What other option is there than to accept the challenge?

  • Madeira

We decided to go to Madeira when the Delta variant squashed our plans to return for a US visit. We figured why not go to one of the places in Portugal that we won’t be able to drive to when we pick up the bimobil. The food is just as incredible (if not more so) as continental Portugal. The landscape is stunningly beautiful. And, it is just as difficult to photograph. Oh how we tried. Also, it is a roller coaster of an island and driving there isn’t always fun (no thanks to GPS). And we arrived back home just as Omicron decided to rear its head. What timing!

  • Scotland

We finally made it to Scotland. What a beautiful country! But don’t let the cover photo fool you, we were gifted only a few moments of sunshine the 10 days we were in country. But we are aching to go back to explore the rest of it! Despite the weather.

  • Sweden

Sweden was our first long photography trip in the bimobil. Sweden was Ann’s idea. What a good idea it was. We weren’t quite sure what to expect other than beauty. That we experienced in abundance and the photographs show that. With Tividens and Söderåsen National Parks and everything in-between, we could have spent a couple of months there.
