Morning Walk Shots 2

I can’t really say that I tried anything different in my image making this time around.  I’ve learned enough to know that even if you have a good idea or two, it often takes several times out before you begin to really start to understand and explore the idea and, hopefully open more doors with new ideas.  Then again, it also takes you a few outings to realize that what you thought was a pretty good concept simply isn’t.  That’s just another way of saying I’m still feeling my way through this morning walk thing and really have no clue how it’s going to turn out.

Portugal is full of all sorts of roads that create interesting spaces (it’s what drives drivers who rely too much on GPS pretty much insane (read: me)).  But I think the really odd intersection makes for interesting photographs, especially when the road is made of little granite cubes that do a nice job of reflecting street lights and adding texture to the road.

I also couldn’t help but give another shot at this strange side road that cuts a corner by where we live.  It’s almost like a little luge run through there, but the curve and change in elevation, along with the location and absence of street lights makes for an interesting scene.

At the top of that side road is our local municipal office, well, the one that was the local office until three municipalities combined into one.  Still, it’s our local (limited) post office as well as a bus stop on our road.  Like most bus stops, it has an illuminated, back-lit billboard which always seems to make for a good night image if you control your exposure carefully.

Given we live up on a hillside, it’s hard to go very far without getting a view of some part of town or another, so I figured I should add at least one in the batch of night images.  Thing is, mornings are coming earlier and earlier here, which means if I don’t get up early on my own and or if I dilly dally on my way out, by the time my walk is over morning is definitely coming.

Hopefully, the early morning sunrises won’t mess me up on my little assignment.

Blog Update: Ann has figured out how to enable the lighbox feature in the blog posts, which means if you click on a photograph you can see it larger (if I’m smart enough to remember to turn that feature on for each photograph). With any luck, we’ll be providing you with images worth clicking on in upcoming blog posts.
