Sometimes an Image

My recent photographs with the Q2MR have gotten me thinking about the images I’ve made with the camera and potentially doing something more with them.  As I was using Lightroom to skim through those images I’ve worked on (so much easier to do than in Capture One), one jumped out at me that gave me pause.  I decided I should look at it some more and, for lack of a better word, simply enjoy it.

It’s a snapshot really.  Not a complex image and not something that required a lot of mental effort to compose.  Step out of an elevator, look up, see an image, pick up your new camera, do one of the things you love about that camera, and press the shutter.  Let your eye and gut do the rest.

I came across  the image in the hotel we were staying at when we made our trip to Munich to check out the bimobil and when I got the Q2MR.  We’d settled into the hotel for the afternoon and I went out with my new camera to experiment a bit, not expecting much given I’d only had it a couple of days - I was still learning how to operate it and exploring its different features.  Stepping out of the elevator on the way back to the room was this tree, side lit by the glass wall and setting sun.  Beautiful in its abstract chaos.

I lifted up the camera, pushed the back button to digitally crop into the frame to what I wanted, and pressed the shutter.  Then onward down the hall to our room.  A simple joyful act that, a couple of years later, comes back to pay me a visit, again to make me smile.  Sometimes an image will do that.
