Juggling Balls

I’ve been juggling a lot of balls this year, and just as I began to feel like I was up on things and can add a couple of more (ones that I take pleasure in), I go and drop a couple.  Thank goodness they weren’t eggs.  So this morning, when I read something while eating breakfast, I decided there’s something I can do for pleasure, and get it done in one quick swoop.  So . . . .

This morning I was reading a blog post (link here) by Bruce Percy about a recent trip of his to Torres del Paine in Patagonia (if you don’t know it, you should google it), a place he’s visited repeatedly and where he’d become afraid that he might have photographed all he can there.  And then came unexpected conditions that gifted him images he never would have imagined could have come from there.

As he explained: “It teaches me that I always need to be open.”  I’ll leave the rest for you to read, because it describes so much how Ann and I feel at times when we’re out photographing.

That line triggered a memory, and it’s that memory from about a year ago I would like to share with you.  A moment when things weren’t working and I opened up to see what the landscape was offering.

So here’s a couple of images from our Santiam trip a year ago last May.

That’s about as much of the photography ball I can juggle right now.  But I may start digging into previous images to quickly work on them and post them - just to keep the ball in the air until I can really play with it.
