Shooting the Shooter - On the Road Edition
This edition of shooting the shooter comes from our trip back from the Painted Hills along the dirt-paved Burnt Ranch/Bridge Creek/NE Gosner Roads. We were out exploring and, in the grandest of all photographic traditions, stopping to photograph whenever we found something interesting.
The first photograph comes from early in the journey as the road follows Bridge Creek on its way to the John Day River. As the road starts to climb over a hill, Ann saw an interesting location of riparian trees and hillside that she wanted to photograph.
Ann eventually made her way down to the fence line to make her image. Here, she’s attaching the filter system to her camera to help ease the contrast between the overcast, but bright, sky and the horizon.
Here’s the result of her efforts.
The second image came as we crossed over another set of hills and approached the John Day River. The large rock and surrounding area are on the other side of the river (not visible here). Again, Ann made her way to the fence line, although this time it was right next to the road.
And again, her photograph.
It’s pretty amazing how framing a subject can really make an image - but only if you see it!
In case you were wondering, the green arrows below show where the two photographs were made on our journey through the back roads of central Oregon.
Up next, one of me!
