Shooting the Shooter - Painted Hills (Winter Edition)
Last weekend Ann and I had quite the worthwhile adventure. It was so good, in fact, that it’s going to take a bit to write up because it’s chock full of interesting stories and images. So to bide some time, I decided to do a shooting the shooter posting from our trip. And for once, I thought to pull out my iPhone to photograph Ann making images!
As is obvious from the photographs, we wound up at the Painted Hills, even though that was not our intention. Forget Rome, is it possible that all roads lead to the Painted Hills? Anyway, that’s where we wound up and, as so often seems the case, the place blessed us wonderful gifts!
We arrived fairly late in the afternoon and the light was simply wonderful. Instead of driving around to different locations, we pretty much stayed at one spot and walked around, ending up on the ridge that offers the main view of the painted hills as the sun was going down. There we made a slew of different images from pretty much the same location. The light kept changing and giving us a new image every few moments.
Pretty much all we had to do was wait around and enjoy the light show! You can tell from Ann’s face how enjoyable it was!
And from her image, you can tell why it was so enjoyable!
The following morning was no less rewarding, although the light show lasted only a few minutes. It’s a testament to our dedication that, even though we both forgot to set our alarm clocks (because surely we’d be up by 5) and we didn’t get up until just past 5:30, we made it to enjoy the sunrise. And yes, we still had time to make coffee!
While even the iPhone photograph suggests just how lovely a sunrise it was . . .
Ann’s is the real photograph!
Now to get to work on the blog post about the trip!
