Shooting the Shooter Part 11 - Seal Rock
Shooting the shooter returns and this time with a double dose of shooters! As you might expect if you’ve read the previous post, this set comes from our recent trip to Seal Rock. What a day! In particular, what a morning!
We start off with Ann’s photographs. No, not the one below, that’s the photo with Ann in it. Don’t you see her way over on the right? She’s that dark speck a few feet away from the rocks. Face it, I don’t take a lot of photographs of Ann from up close - I know what’s good for me. But she’s in this one!
Now this is Ann’s photograph!
The consistent quality of Ann’s images is impressive. We’ve discussed this at length and I still cannot convince her that she has a unique way of seeing and has developed to the point where most of her images are visually strong and have a complexity that rises well above her years of experience. She thinks I’m full of crap. But I’m not.
A short while later, Ann took a photograph of me.
As you can see, the clouds had rolled in and it was like we were in a new world. She got me in the midst of some of the most interesting photographs (for me) of the day and while I was waiting as the exposure was being made.Oh, and did you notice perhaps the best piece of non-photography photographic gear that I own? Knee high boots. Now I don’t worry if the waves roll up over my feet. It’s amazing how liberating your photography can be when you’re not limited to dry land! That is until you’re standing a bit too far in, then I’m thankful for wool socks. They keep your feet warm even when wet. Ann and I are now talking about fishing waders!
