Hans
The days are starting to get warmer and the sun has finally taken on that edge that means summer is not far off. When the sun has a certain intensity, I always think about how Hans used to love to lay out in the sun, absorbing the heat. He’d find the hottest patch of concrete and plop himself down for a nice long nap. He’d eventually wake up, pick up his head, tongue hanging out, panting away with the biggest dog smile you’ll ever see. It’s one of dozens of memories of Hans I’ll carry with me forever.
So imagine my surprise when I looked out the window today and saw a squirrel pulling a Hansi! He was sprawled out on the deck soaking up the rays! Funny thing is, he did exactly what Hans used to do when he got a bit hot - he dragged his body over a few feet (inches in the case of the squirrel) so his head was in the shadow and his body in the sun!
Hansi’s presence still permeates our home. And apparently affects the squirrels too!
