According to Plan

So far everything has pretty much gone according to plan.  I had a couple of more dental appointments than I had expected, which means I didn’t get any work done while here, but other than that there have been no major hitches.  Fortunately, I have a lot of bone in my head (yes Ann, I am boneheaded) so the oral surgeon didn’t have to do any bone grafts - I’m now the proud owner of two implant screws in my jaw - and in a few months, after I heal, the final implants will be put in place.  For now, I’ve got a temporary insert to use and I’m starting to pack to head back to Liberia.

I’m glad that not all my time here was spent on medical issues.  Best of all, I got to spend a lot of time being with Ann.  Hanging out, watching movies (go see the Hobbit!) and just enjoying her.  I’m a lucky guy.  And I got to see others.  We invited Geneva, Ben, Holden and Pen over for dinner and well . . .  Pen sure is a cutie!

I spent as much time as I could holding her (and introducing her to vanilla ice cream) and Holden didn’t seem to mind too much.  Pen is very engaging and I can tell she likes Ann. . .

Still, time passes too quickly.

As I pack to get ready to leave, the weather has decided to remind me that I’m not in Liberia anymore.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the weather also goes according to plan - a warm front is supposed to come through later today and everything is supposed to melt.  It better, I have a plane to catch up in Portland in two days!
