Sea Wall

Back at Forodhani Gardens, or more appropriately by the sea wall along Forodhani Gardens, the evening’s festivities had begun.  The day’s heat had dissipated, the tide had come in, and the place was swarming with kids.  When you combine kids and sea water, well, you combine kids and sea water.

And since there was a sea wall with steps, you get jumping kids . . .

The place was full of laughter and fun, not just for the kids but for all of us watching.  As I mentioned to a person standing next to me, kids are kids everywhere.  They love horsing around and they love showing off for others.

And with every passing moment the water level got deeper and deeper until eventually the big boys started diving off the top of the wall.

As the sun set, folks kept diving but as far as pictures went, I couldn’t get anything more than a blur, so I turned my camera elsewhere as the sun set.

Some of the kids started swimming out towards the boats that were “parked” nearby, which made it easy to capture something other than just beautiful colors in the sunset.

In time the sun set and I put the camera away for the night.

It would have been nice to photograph the cooking fires at Forodhani Gardens, except like the shopkeepers in Stone Town they were incredibly aggressive and downright annoying.  Plus the food was expensive.  So my classmate and I decided to relax at an outdoor restaurant and enjoy a fine meal to close out the day.
