The TRUTH About the AUTO BAILOUT!!!!

You know, being overseas, especially when working for the government, you come across lots of information that puts a lot of things in a very different perspective.  You have access to the behind-the-scenes stories that you don’t hear about regarding big events in the media; you gain a different way of looking at things; you find out things aren’t quite what they are said to be in the press.  And then, every so often, you stumble across something that shines a whole new light on matters you had long forgotten about.  One such instance, actually two, happened this week.

As we were passing through Gbarnga, ever observant Andrew pointed something out to me.  I looked over and my jaw simply dropped:

Suddenly, it all made sense - President Obama didn’t bail out the auto companies to help save tens of thousands of US jobs, he did it to save his own company!  I mean, without American cars, how could he sell oil, air conditioning belts, oil filters and tires?  Suddenly I became disheartened, my vision of a person I respect and believe in was shattered!

The whole drive to Voinjama I tried to figure this out.  I mean, is our President so shallow that he would place personal financial benefit over the betterment of tens of thousands of Americans and two of our major businesses?  Is he no different than the 1% who say that they need a tax cut so they can make yet another million dollars this year?  Are the Republicans right that President Obama is just an anti-colonial Kenyan?

I was in anguish the whole trip up, the bumpy dirt road jarring my already aching brain.  How could this be?  The man who I believed saved us from another great depression did it for himself.  The President who I thought had tried to work with the other side was in fact in cahoots with their self-interested ideology.  The President who did what so many other presidents tried but failed at and brought universal health care to our country wasn’t the man I thought he was.  It simply couldn’t be.

Then we pulled into Voinjama, and what little hope I had was shattered.  There it was, another of the President’s money making schemes:

That red stuff is palm oil.  Palm oil!  Get it - he’s not an environmentalist, he’s a money grabber.  He’s investing in palm oil, probably to eventually replace corn oil as the fuel additive in ethanol!  Forget what he says about protecting the environment, he wants to protect his income.  And look at the bottom right of the photo - that’s money there.  He’s into money laundering as well!  I bet he also makes palm wine, which means he’s in the liquor business too!  “Welcome to the United Brothers Business Company” the sign says - well I don’t know what Brother he’s talking about but, oh, wait, he’s got that half-brother who lives in China. That’s what he’s doing, he’s taking his millions of dollars and investing it in China!  Could it get any worse for the US?

Well, at least the Republicans are wrong, he’s not an anti-colonial Kenyan, he’s a hard-core capitalist Liberian!  And I think they're wrong about his religion too, given his presence here he's probably a witch doctor!  At least I can rest easy knowing that the Republicans are wrong.

Now I just hope I don’t see an Obama health center while I’m here; then I’ll have to start worrying about why he fought so hard for health care reform . . . .
