And this is the dry season?

It's supposed to be the dry season here.  The rains aren't really supposed to come for another couple of months, but if the following video clip isn't a good warning that traveling to here from Monrovia during the rainy season isn't a good idea, I don't know what is.  Click on the link below for a video (it may take a bit to load).

Voinjama In the Dry Season

Here's a photo taken just before the video was made:

Some of the workshop folks tried to make it from Monrovia to Voinjama in one day.  They left late (about 2:00 instead of 12:00 - big mistake), then got hit by the rain storm just outside Zorzor.  At first they thought it was great, the rain reduced the dust from the lead vehicle of the convoy.  Then the trees started falling down.  As one colleague told me, for about 20 minutes they were moving at a crawl, afraid to stop because they might get stuck.  They arrived in at 9:30.  I was well asleep by then.

By the way, the vehicle to have around here is the one right there with the black roof rack.  A real Toyota Land Cruiser, diesel, 4wd, high clearance and a winch up front.  And you can stand on the roof rack for photographs - I know cuz I did it!
